Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 is already showing signs of emerging as the biggest hit of Mani Ratnam’s career in the last 20 years. The film of the master storyteller that really set the box office on fire was Alai Payuthey, which came out in 2000. The team has rigorously promoted the film throughout the country. The movie is carrying decent buzz among the movie lovers. Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 is Mani Ratnam’s ambitious project and is shot on a huge scale. It is the second most expensive Tamil film after Kollywood superstar Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar’s 2.0. The traders are saying that after the release the movie will create the history. Sarathkumar is playing the role of Periya Pazhuvettaraiyarin in this period drama Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is playing his wife.
During the promotions, the actor Sarathkumar was asked how he shot for the romantic scenes with Asihwarya Rai Bachchan, to which he replied. “ I was feeling shy and skeptical to perform romantic sequences with Aishwarya Rai. Mani Ratnam had literally spoonfed me to make him do those scenes.”
Mani Ratnam is making his big screen comeback after a gap of 4 years with Ponniyin Selvan : Part 1 and the advance booking response is terrific.
